Privacy Statement

Targus Group International, Inc. (“Targus”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Please read the Targus Online Privacy Statement below. This Targus Online Privacy Statement applies to data collected by Targus through the majority of its websites and services, as well as its offline product support services. It does not apply to those Targus sites, services and products that do not display or link to this statement or that have their own privacy statements.

Collection of Your Personal Information

At some Targus sites, we ask you to provide personal information. Personal information is any information that allows you to be identified. The types of personal information Targus will collect may include your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. We may also collect demographic information, such as your zip/postal code, age, gender, preferences, interests and field of employment. If you choose to make a purchase or sign up for a paid subscription service, we will ask for additional information, such as your credit card number and billing address, which is used to create a Targus account.

Targus collects personal information from you through the use of inquiry and registration forms, direct personal contact with you (for example, over the telephone) and every time you email us your details. We may collect information about your visit, including the pages you view, the links you click and other actions taken in connection with Targus sites and services. We also collect certain standard information that your browser sends to every website you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times and referring website addresses.

When you receive newsletters or promotional e-mail from Targus, utilizing a 3rd party e-mail marketing application, we may use customized links or similar technologies to determine whether the e-mail has been opened and which links you click in order to provide you more focused e-mail communications or other information.

In order to offer you a more consistent and personalized experience in your interactions with Targus, information collected through one Targus service may be combined with information obtained through other Targus services. We may also supplement the information we collect with information obtained from other companies. For example, we may use services from other companies that enable us to derive a general geographic area based on your IP address in order to customize certain services to your geographic area.

Use of Your Personal Information

Targus collects and uses your personal information to operate and improve its sites and deliver the services you have requested. These uses may include: providing you with more effective customer service; making the sites or services easier to use; performing research and analysis aimed at improving our products, services and technologies; and displaying content and advertising that are customized to your interests and preferences.

We also use your personal information to communicate with you. We may send certain mandatory service communications such as welcome letters, billing and shipping reminders, information on technical service issues, and product announcements. We may also occasionally send you product surveys or promotional mailings to inform you of other products or services available from Targus and its affiliates.

If you have consented at the point of collection to Targus (and/or any third party) providing you with direct marketing material you will be requested to elect the type of media via which this material shall be provided (for example, by post, e-mail, telephone or fax). Targus will only provide you with such material via your chosen media. If, at any stage, you object to Targus' use of your personal data for direct marketing or to the media in which such material is being sent, you may choose to unsubscribe to its receipt. If you have consented to receive third party direct marketing you will need to unsubscribe directly with that third party.

Personal information collected on Targus sites and services may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Targus or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using a Targus site or service, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.

Sharing of Your Personal Information

Except as described in this statement, we will not disclose your personal information outside of Targus and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates without your consent. Some Targus sites allow you to choose to share your personal information with select Targus partners so that they can contact you about their products, services or offers. Other sites do not share your contact information with third parties for marketing purposes, but instead may give you a choice as to whether you wish to receive communications from Targus on behalf of external business partners about a partner's particular offering (without transferring your personal information to the third party). See the Communication Preferences section below for more information.

Some Targus services may be co-branded and offered in conjunction with another company. If you register for information on such services, both Targus and the other company may receive information collected in conjunction with the co-branded services.

We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as handling the processing and delivery of mailings, providing customer support, hosting websites, processing transactions, or performing statistical analysis of our services. Those companies will be permitted to obtain only the personal information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.

We may access and/or disclose your personal information if we believe such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or legal process served on Targus; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Targus (including the enforcement of our agreements); or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Targus services or members of the public. Your rights to your personal data held by Targus

Targus will only keep your information for as long as we are either required to by law, or as is relevant for the purposes for which it was collected. During this period, you may contact your regional Targus office at any time if you would like to see details of the personal data that we hold about you, details (available to Targus) as to the source of that personal data, the purposes for which your personal data are being used, details of the parties with whom we may share your personal data or to ask us to correct, update, supplement or delete this personal data.

If you have a Targus billing account, you can add to or update your information at your regional Targus website by clicking on the appropriate links.

Communication Preferences

You can stop the delivery of future promotional e-mail from Targus sites and services by following the specific instructions in the e-mail you receive. If you are registered with Targus Partner Programs, you can set your contact preferences or choose to share your contact information with other Targus partners by logging into your appropriate regional Partner Program website. These communication choices do not apply to mandatory service communications that are considered part of certain Targus services, which you may receive periodically unless you cancel the service.

Security of Your Personal Information

Targus has in place appropriate technical and organizational security measures to prevent unauthorized or unlawful disclosure or access to or, accidental or unlawful loss of or destruction, or alteration or unauthorized disclosure of or access to, or other damage to your personal data. These measures ensure an appropriate level of security in relation to the risks inherent in the processing and the nature of the personal data to be protected. Your securely held personal data will only be accessible by select authorized members of staff within Targus and selected business partners and other third parties. If a password is used to help protect your accounts and personal information, it is your responsibility to keep your password confidential. Do not share this information with anyone. If you are sharing a computer with anyone you should always choose to log out before leaving a site or service to protect access to your information from subsequent users.

Transfer of your personal data

As Targus is part of a group of companies operating globally we may store your personal data in your home country and/or we may transfer your personal data to other Targus companies and carefully selected business partners and third party suppliers in other countries around the world where it has your consent or where it is necessary to do so because it is relevant to Targus' dealings with you. By clicking the 'I accept' button where you offer your information in return for services, you consent to such a transfer. The laws of these other countries may not be the same as the laws regulating the use and transfer of personal data in your home country. Targus is confident that it is able to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal data and provide you with an adequate level of protection in each of the Targus offices in each of the countries to which your personal data is transferred. Additionally, Targus requires all selected business partners and other third parties to maintain the confidentiality of personal data.

Collection and Use of Children's Personal Information

Targus sites and services are intended for general audiences and do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. When a Targus site does collect age information, and users identify themselves as under 13, the site will either block such users from providing personal information, or will seek to obtain consent from parents for the collection, use and sharing of their children's personal information. We will not knowingly ask children under the age of 13 to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to provide our services.

Please note that if you grant consent for your child to use Targus services, this will include such general audience communication services as e-mail, and your child will be able to communicate with, and disclose personal information to, Targus employees and representatives. Parents can change or revoke the consent choices previously made, and review, edit or request the deletion of their children's personal information.

We encourage you to talk with your children about communicating with strangers and disclosing personal information online. You and your child can visit the FTC website to learn more about the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule and Internet rights and safely.
